Exhibiting my work at a gallery for the first time has been a thrilling experience. The Nomad Gallery, in White Rock, BC, is a haven for artists like me, and is the perfect place to showcase my 'Sunsets at Garry Point' series. Myself, and 13 other talented Lower Mainland photographers, are part of a Group Photography Exhibition for the month of November. With twelve pieces in this series, sets of three pictures are released every Thursday, with the first group making its debut on November 1st.
Just like every sunset is unique, each photographer at the show had a distinct perspective to share. It was a beautiful reminder that the world can never have too many photographers. We may capture the same subject, the same moment, but our lenses, our experiences, our stories are different. Each one of us sees a different hue, a different light, a different emotion. We are not in competition; we are a community.
I believe every artist should never shy away from expressing their unique perspective. There will be countless no's, endless moments of doubt, but one day you will hear that 'yes' you've been longing for. And that makes all the struggle, all the refining of your craft, worth it.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Jenny from the Nomad Gallery for this incredible opportunity. Her belief in my work has given me the confidence to continue this creative journey. My family and friends have been my rock, their unwavering support is what fuels my passion. And a special shout-out to Erin Hogue Education, who has taught me so much about becoming a better photographer.
The 'Sunsets at Garry Point' series is not just a collection of images for me. It's a celebration of the world's diversity, a testament to finding extraordinary magic in everyday moments. It is an invitation to explore, appreciate, and fall in love with the world around us, one sunset at a time.
